GETTING THERAPEUTIC HELP

If you're seeking therapeutic help, start with your local medical provider or one of the survivor support organisations listed.

Two things to consider:

  1. If you seek help through your regular health provider, make sure to ask if any of their psychiatrists or therapists have experience with institutional abuse. It's hit and miss otherwise.

  2. If you were systematically abused at boarding school, you likely have Complex PTSD—basically repeated and prolonged exposure to events that typically result in PTSD. See if you can find someone who specializes in that. It's hit and miss otherwise.
