Operation Yewtree
Operation Yewtree was a UK-wide investigation led by London’s Metropolitan Police, but it directly involved Scottish police forces to investigate offenses committed by Jimmy Savile in Scotland. Because Savile frequently traveled, stayed, and worked across the UK, several victims and historical allegations emerged within Scottish jurisdictions.
During the peak of Operation Yewtree in 2012 and 2013, the Met Police and Scottish authorities processed nationwide allegations regarding historical abuse. Information yielded from these widespread inquiries caused regional police to zero in on a prominent staff member at Merchiston Castle School: James Rainy Brown.
