Assistant Masters: Peter Hall – SCAI Witness Statement (7 December 2020)

COMMENTS

In paragraph 62, Mr. Hall states:

"The school acted quickly to address concerns raised in an unannounced Inspection in May 2015, which rated Care and Support as weak and highlighted particular development needed in Care Planning. This remained weak in the December 2015 Inspection and the changes made resulted in a good rating in June 2016 and very good by September 2016."

Yet the 11 May 2015 inspection that resulted in a 'Weak' rating in the 'Quality of Care and Support' category that Peter Hall describes as "unannounced" was not only an announced inspection, it was also a self-inspection by Merchiston's own Board of Governors, who conduct the majority of inspections branded with the Care Inspectorate logo.
